Episode 76

Feel Good

Many types of therapy focus purely on insight, and many focus more on action. Action tends to be the more effective form of therapy, but as a famous Mexican said, “Why not both?”

Seated meditation can be similar. We might receive some kind of insight during meditation – even something simple as a feeling of peace or relaxation. Yet when we continue with our regular life, we might forget to practice and integrate that insight.

At any moment in our days, we are free to find a moment of peace, similar to those we found during seated meditation, making it a part of our lives, and feeling good.

Welcome travelers, peaceful warriors, worker mystics and buddhas and bodhi satvas and enlightened beings, beings on their quest to illumination.

Welcome to shiva and welcome to that divine light within.

Welcome to you.

Welcome.

So I wanted to talk to you about feeling good.

I was thinking about so often what happens in certain disciplines or certain tools for self improvement…for example in therapy what happens, perhaps the therapist focuses a little too much on the inside a little too much on self knowledge and not enough on an action plan.

What tends to happen is that people don’t fully grasp their own insights or they will forget their insights.

The studies show that when you have a from of therapy that just focusing on action tends to be much more helpful in therapy rather than just focused on insight.

For me, I’d rather have both: knowledge, understanding and perspective and the practical tools to actually do something about it.

And similar of course a lot of people know about taking ancestral medicines. They find they help with visions or these other things, revelations about themselves.

Some people do not take the time to do the homework and that is where the homework really gets integrated.

Likewise I was thinking about this I was reading Live and Dare the blog from Giovanni Dienstmann and he talks about how important it is when you do your meditation that you gotta remember to integrate it into the rest of your day.

Well you don’t have to but its cool to do it, it’s enjoyable.

So if you are meditating and you can get to some kind of state, a lot of the time after about 15 minutes of meditating you’ll feel a shift in consciousness.

You’ll notice something feels a little different and your body starts tingling or you feel that very unusual feeling of having your head be in a very large space, separate from your body.

All kinds of sensations. Or just a sort of calm, just a gentle relaxation like slipping into a warm bath.

Now what if what if that was available just just during meditation but you could access that a bit in your every day life.

Well actually you don’t have to wonder because it is possible. If you manage to attain some kind of interesting state you can bring that with you.

Of course people can do that through mindfulness meditation, attaining some awareness with your body or breathing in some part.

Of course I recommend the audio book of Practicing the Power of Now of Echart Tolle. It’s the best book I’ve ever read on that subject and some people say “There’s no such thing as a magic pill but this is the closest there is to a magic pill for transformation, for feeling calm, for self acceptedness and self awareness so I highly recommend that audio book.

Now yeah just today I was sitting in an office today waiting to port my phone to another provider.

And waiting you know some people might sit there and feel frustrated. I do not have to do that, I can simply enjoy the moment, feel my body, enjoy what is happening within me. This cosmic dance going on within my chackras revealing subtle depths of joy.

That is going on all the time. He who seeks will find, surely.

So, what’s the lesson? When you do achieve some kind of state in meditation during the day, perhaps for just 30 seconds. Perhaps for 5 minutes while doing other things you can seek that level of awareness or that state of even mindedness or that state of calm balanced relaxed detachment and attention so you can bring that loving awareness into every aspect of your life.

That is the lesson, feel good.

Thank you for feeling good and thank you for integrating the lessons that you gain from meditation in every day life and thank you for being cool.

Have a great day, I’ll talk to you soon.
