In this episode, Kurt recounts an unusual dream.
He is seated in a circle of nuns, monks and other practitioners on the grass in the grounds of a temple. To his left there is a young woman of Malaysian appearance, around 20 years old. She is overflowing with joy, laughing and joking. Kurt knows that she is the head of the temple and also an arahat, an enlightened being.
Everything is covered in the warm purple, lavender and orange hues of a sunset. One feels so intensely peaceful and content.
The group starts to walk to the hall for the evening chant. A cloud floats by overhead, tinted with these same sunset colours. The cloud is symmetrical, and in the middle it has the face of the Buddha. “Surely this must be a good omen,” one thinks.
Reaching the temple and sitting down to pray, one picks up an unusual lotus flower. It has long indigo petals, something like that of a thistle, and they are again formed into the shape of the Buddha’s face, another good omen.

I was thinking about a dream I had a couple of weeks ago.
This unusual dream. I don’t think I’ve ever had a dream in my life where I felt so content and relaxed and at peace and overall having a good time.
So I’m sitting in a circle of people on the temple grounds. I don’t know what temple but I have the feeling there’s this temple. To my left there’s a young woman, likely Malaysian. She looks about 19 or 20 years old and shes wearing a headdress in a cylinder.
It looks like Nefertiti’s crown. And she seems to be very happy, smiley and laughing and I know or have this awareness that this young woman is the head of this temple and is also an enlightened being.
At some moment we stand up and start moving, going towards the temple so we can do the evening prayer, chanting or meditation.
Everything is in these wonderful pastel colors. Everything is the colors of a sunset, these wonderful deep light purples and orange tones just filling everything, the sky, the grass has these tones and people have these reflections on their faces.
I’m walking along and I see a cloud start to take off and I noticed the cloud is actually symmetrical, in the middle of the cloud is what seems to be the Buddhist face, a very clear image. I say to myself surely this is a good omen.
Eventually we arrive at the temple and I’m seated in half lotus and I pick up a flower and I think its a lotus flower but it looks nothing like a lotus flower.
That’s how dreams are and it’s like more like of a stinging nettle or something. At the top of the flower is this violet or purple color and when I look at the flower it has all these strands that are bent somehow where they give the impression of the Buddhist face.
And I think wow they must have worked hard to breed this in the Buddhist face. And I just feel so content and at home. I found it so unusual that I would have this dream with such contentment.
Perhaps these things are always available for dreams.
As I mentioned before for the Tibetan Buddhist tradition one of the ways one can gain enlightenment is via dream yoga.
I think its important to emphasize how much dreams can aid with spiritual development. Through the exploration of lucid dreaming and meditating in our dreams and performing all types of self exploration in those moments of the night.
Thanks for listening and have a wonderful day.
