Episode 217
Sense of Self with Cabra Cuerno
Becoming an adolescent isn’t easy. It’s a time of your life when a lot of people will put pressure on you – pressure from school, from your parents and siblings, perhaps even from your job. Sometimes it seems like everyone has an idea of who you should be, and you might not have a firm idea of who you want to be, for yourself.
In this interview, Kurt talks to Cabra Cuerno, known for his skills as a musician, actor, and martial artist. Cabra tells the story of growing up in the cities and towns of Mexico, experiencing different schools and different ways of being, the pressure from his family focused on music and the theatre, the strict academic tutelage of his brother, the atheistic and Marxist philosophy of his father, the Christian ideals of his classmates.
At a young age, Cabra decided to ask a lot of key questions about his own identity. Which parts of me should I hold onto? Of which parts shall I now let go? And which parts will transform into some new expression?
