Transformation Counts
Many people have different conceptions of karma. A popular one is the “Santa Claus” idea that the universe keeps a list of good and bad actions, and returns them equally to you. Another conception is just of cause and effect – when you do bad things and hang around bad people, it’s natural the it will end up coming back to you.
Another idea is that karma exists in the moment. Whoever you are in this moment is likely to receive good or bad effects, just because of the way you’re being, the form guiding your actions in those moments.
If that is true, then perhaps a person could change in a moment, suddenly becoming good, letting go of whatever ill will they once held and now being pure. Now, it would be unfair to punish them for their past deeds, because they are no longer the person they once were.

Today’s talk is entitled transformation counts.
I was thinking about that part in the bible where it says something like “If you have a person who has always been good, done good things who has always been in a certain way and hasn’t sinned, that’s good. But if you have somebody who has been misled who has taken the wrong path who has sinned and he turns away from sin then 1000 angelic trumpets will light up and play the wonderful tune to rejoyce because of this transformation.”
I was thinking about sometimes we do things wrong and maybe even people end up getting hurt. WE use people or manipulate people probably unconsciously on our part. And at some point we look back and say “Oh, I didn’t even realize.”
Maybe somehow we even managed to avoid the consequences of our less than perfect behavior and we look back and think “Oh, those were the consequences. The things I thought were happening to me just because just at random, didn’t have anything to do of my consequences.
They were actually a reflection of ourselves and we can take that insight and combine it with another powerful force that’s called action.
I like to say that inside plus action equals transformation as we bring that consciousness to our actions, our thoughts and our behavior.
Because of that we receive insight and we start to pick up on the patterns.
And because of that we say “Oh, well I’ve realized that”.
It’s funny we say realize because you don’t fully realize something until you make it real. That’s what realizing is, when you really realize something you bring it into this world.
That’s what action is. When you have a powerful insight, and take action we are transformed.
I think that’s actually a congruent formula, a truism even I think. That remains to be tested thoroughly.
When we transform it’s interesting because sometimes even having committed those “sins” which actually means missing the mark.
When we miss the mark so many times and we see that insight or pursue that insight and take action on it and achieve transformation, it’s interesting because it’s almost like we are not the same person anymore and we won’t necessarily face the negative karma.
Of course we can avoid negative karma entirely. We’ll still face it a little bit because there are these remnants of our past that we still have to face. We haven’t fully integrated the lesson but when we do we won’t necessarily be judged because of our past because we have become somebody new, something new.
WE bring the God consciousness in. And that’s why I mention those angelic trumpets and why the angels rejoice so much because by receiving insight, action and transformation we’ve actually created something and used our own God consciousness.
We have contacted that deeper part of ourselves, that highest part of ourselves, that fatherly creative trans-formative part of ourselves that has enabled us to become anew. To be born again.
Transformation counts.
