Episode 296

Transmit Peace to Others

In recent months and years, some people have become very anxious for a variety of reasons. Others have learnt to see that perhaps there isn’t such a reason to be anxious – and on top of that, have even learnt to feel peace even when people around them suggest they should feel otherwise.

If you are in the second group, life might present you with many grand opportunities to grant that peace to others.

Generally in communication, the people will focus first on our body language, then our voice, and finally the words that are said. It does help to have clear and thorough knowledge of a subject to express our viewpoint clearly. However, sometimes it is more important to communicate peace through our bodies and vocal tone.

For this reason, the best way to calm people down is in person, followed by video call or video message, then voice message, then perhaps by written letter, and lastly by text message.

Welcome beautiful thinkers.

This is how your life is already wonderful. I was thinking about transmitting peace to others.

Sometimes if we do have a bit of emotional intelligence, perhaps a lot like a healthy school, we can remain calm in situations where others have problems where there’s a lot of tension and anxiety. A lot of us notice this about 15-16 months ago when things started to get going with a certain virus you might have heard of.

So What I noticed when I would talk to friends like in messages in WhatsApp or Instagram and people would send me these messages and you could hear the fear and anxiety in their voice.

It was difficult to try to speak a little rationally to these people and try to demonstrate their pain. Maybe things aren’t quite as bad as what the media is making out because of course they do have this incentive to sensationalize or exaggerate. If you go back through the years of news you can see every time a new disease comes out like SARS or MRSA or something like that. Whatever kind of flu, they were exaggerating it all along.

Perhaps they are exaggerating it again this time. Perhaps they are playing it up because what bleeds leads, bad news spreads a lot quicker than good news and maybe they’re trying to play into that angle to get more viewers and more clicks.

Just maybe, just maybe.

So I would try to calm people down and of course I researched it quite a lot. It’s not always obvious to people but I do have this background of research doing it as a hobby for how many years maybe 14 years. Trying to find out what I can say with some certainty, what’s probable, what’s not probable. Researching these things, I did have that background.

A lot of people have that background too because they’ve been doing this research into conspiracy theories for a long time, trying to piece together what might be accurate.

Sooner or later the pieces start to click together even though at certain stages people might get a little eccentric with their research. So people start to put the pieces together to get a clear image, which is what I did. I put the pieces together and I saw it wasn’t such a big deal as what was stated.

That was a key factor was discernment in being able to keep calm. I talked about that in a previous episode I will put the link in there where I talked about the power of discernment when it comes to the news.

So what happened was after I did some research and I admit I was panicking a bit but I started to notice this vision coming together seeing things are not so bad and also regulating my emotions through the techniques I already use like deep breathing or practicing meditation, looking inside, different techniques of pranayama and keeping myself cool.

So I was cool after a few days of panicking a little bit. People sent me these messages is what would happen when I would respond in text, the tone doesn’t always come across in text or it will appear argumentative and I can be argumentative. But if I talk over voice or even video or even in person it tends to be that we can communicate that peace a lot more clearly and get that calm through.

To a certain extent, to a certain grade it doesn’t matter too much what I say because if the message is peace the medium is the message, it’s the way that is transmitted that might affect people the most. As you might have heard of that famous experiment where people would look at a professor and be asked what they notice the most.

Around 70 percent noticed the body language, the physical representation of communication. Second was voice, tonality around 23 percent. The remaining was the words, 7 percent.

Sometimes the most important thing is to get those sub communications or those meta communications in line so we can help people and if we do send people a soothing calming method. Or if we are there in person with people we can be present even though they are feeling anxious or uncomfortable. Just by being present with them. Just by speaking gently or slowly and being calm we can transmit calm.

By being peaceful we can transmit peace. And peace if we are discerning, if we exercise self control then peace can spread faster than any virus.

I hope you join me, thank you for joining me in transmitting peace when you can feel peace, inspire others with that calmness of spirit and have a wonderful day.
