Episode 451

Consequences Of Our Actions

We can get caught up in our routines, facing our everyday lives – the same activities with the same attitudes.

We might have a fantasy, believing that one day things will be different. At the same time, we might be afraid to think about where this path is leading us, because we already have a concept of where it does lead.

Allowing ourselves to bring those questions clearly into consciousness, we can begin to see what landmarks lie along that path. If we are not taking care of our health, we can see that it might get worse. Likewise, if we are changing our thoughts and taking action in the area of health, we can see it might get better – even though the effects are not yet apparent.

Gently, we ask ourselves these questions, and we begin to see the future, and alter our destiny. Where is this belief leading me? How is this mode of being going to affect my future? What will happen if I choose to be something else?

Welcome, beautiful thinkers!

I’d like to talk to you about the consequences of your actions.

And this is something that is incredibly difficult to think about.

Because then a lot of the time the things that we do, the habits that we perform on a daily basis, kind of sink into the background, and we don’t necessarily choose them consciously.

And those begin to be our character.

Those begin to be our destiny, as stated by Freud and other Jewish masters before him.

So sometimes, I’ll tell you this, I was on Reddit last night. I’m reading this forum, the semen retention forum, and a guy says, “Oh, I did something. I went, and I hooked up with a woman on Tinder, this certain type of woman. And I regretted it, you know, it wasn’t worth it”

“I shouldn’t have have done that. I hope I don’t do that again in the future.”

“And I was expecting that maybe she would be interested in a relationship or something. But no, it wasn’t like that. She was just interested in being intimate for a single night or, you know, maybe looking for a booty call, or whatever it is.”

And people in the comments, one fellow in the comments was like, “Well, you made a woman of Tinder and she says certain type of woman, the certain profile a woman, what did you expect?”

And I was, like I commented, I said, “I think we have all been shocked by the consequences of our own actions at various times in our lives.”

Of course, we do we do these things, whatever they are all kinds of things. I mean, we forget our spiritual practice, or we don’t even begin to meditate, and we don’t go to the gym, we eat unhealthy food, and then we end up getting fat and sluggish.

And then we look at ourselves one day in the mirror and say, “Oh, what happened?”

We hopefully we do that sooner rather than later. But that’s, that’s something vital to do.

God willing, we could all live our lives entirely consciously and take stock of ourselves every day or every night, writing something in our journal about the way we are living our lives. So we can bring that line of consciousness into our own habits.

But it’s not easy to do.

You know what happens?

You wake up, hear the alarm from your robot box, pick up the robot box, and look at what’s going on on robot media.

Get out of bed, put on your clothes, jump in your robot box and drive to the robot box. So you can sit in front of a robot box to please your robot boss.

This is what happens to a lot of us.

And before we know, we spend five to 10 years of our lives that way.

Well, is a good time to ask. I invite you, I invite myself to consider what are the consequences of our actions?

What is going to happen if we continue on that same path? What is the way that we interact with our fellow humans when our fellow spiritual beings on this planet?

And how does it help us or help them?

How is it impeding us, impeding our progress ,or impeding the awareness of our own beings?

How might that possibly be better?

And as I’ve said many times before, there was a certain experience I had.

I remember I was about 20 years old and I was ascending the staircase of my friend’s apartment or flat and I thought to myself, “You know, now I’m on this personal development tip.”

“If I continue with this, really all I need to do is continue to just gather a few good habits, continue researching and learning new techniques or mentalities, different ways to think in the world more positively, more proactively taking this information and implement it.”

“If I can continue to do that, no matter how slow I go, even if I’m just improving that, that 1%, every week or every month, this is going to be good for me.”

And I could see, in that moment, my own destiny in some limited vision, but I had this kind of premonition, or how can I describe it, I could see the natural consequences of my own actions.

Now, we can do this.

If we begin.

And if we continue.

And when we fall astray, we return to the practice.

Just like with meditation, we sit down, focus on the object, her mind begins to wander, we notice, we return our consciousness to the object, just like that, just this way, we can live our lives, is not easy.

We will get distracted, we will lose our way.

But just this way, we will notice.

And then we will return to the path, return to the object, to the practice to the discipline, or to the question.

Whatever it takes us to continue, to foresee the consequences of our actions.

To ask us: “Where is this habit leading me? Where is this belief leading me? How is this mode of being going to affect my future? And how is it affecting me now? How will it affect me?”

If I choose to be something else, by entering into that sweet space of consciousness, where nothing is impossible, where everything is available to us, that new presence filled with chance and possibility filled with newness.

Allowing ourselves to become what we already might be.
