Lost in the Mystery
Deep in sleep, you might gently enter a dream, finding yourself in a foreign land with no familiar surroundings. Nobody speaks your language, and you’re not sure how to get where you want to go.
If you desire to control your experience, this might be a nightmare. Not knowing where you are and where to go can induce anxiety.
However, when you relax into such a dream, without preconception, ready to go wherever the path takes you, this dream will be an exploration and a blessing.
How is life like that dream?

I just woke up an hour or so ago, it’s sunday relaxing. Easy, not much to do.
I was thinking about a dream I had more than 2 years ago and I find myself on this island nation and on this island they speak the native language but it seems like it’s maybe been colonized by Japanese because they also speak japanese.
And I am not either of these languages, I’m walking around with my backpack trying to find what’s going on and walking on these markets on the beaches, going into the hotel without speaking the language.
It’s very clear that I am lost and I don’t know how to find my way to hotel and guest house. I keep moving and meeting people, trying to communicate with whoever I could.
After having that dream, writing about it and thinking that’s interesting because it wasn’t so long ago that dream was a nightmare for me. I was in a place I didn’t know the language, everything was unfamiliar and it would be quite anxiety provoking.
That night it wasn’t like that at all.
I also remember in real life the moment I was heading to the Playa Blanca in Columbia. It was a bit complicated I was going to see my friend David in La Isla De Barú and he told me don’t worry my friend, it is easy to find.
Just tell them you are going to La Isla de Peru and you will find it.
I got to the airport and asked a bunch of people how to get there. A lot told me it wasn’t easy. One tourist guide told me you have to take a taxi then take a ferry then get on a motorcycle for about half an hour through unknown territory. Then you will arrive.
I never did find David, it’s not easy to find and the directions he gave me were not very thorough. Sometimes people by the coast are like that because everything is easy and flowing for them. They don’t think much about details.
In that moment, on the back of this motorcycle riding over so many humps on this rugged road, the back streets. I don’t even know if there were any front streets but finally just thinking in that moment I would have been very anxiety causing for me in the past.
But in that moment I was totally fine even though I didn’t know where I was going or how I would get back, just going with the flow.
What if the things are like that dream? Maybe things aren’t that serious. Maybe when we feel lost in our lives maybe that’s absolutely fine.
That’s just part of the mystery, uncertainty, enigma of life. God works in mysterious ways.
It sounds like a cliche, it is a cliche, but there’s truth in it. There’s all sort of things happening to us, maybe you think the world should fit in a neat little box but it never will, in fact it seems willing to defy our expectations and present things we didn’t think would happen maybe.
To challenge us to find a different deeper depths of our souls, of ourselves, of our courage, of our braveness in the face of an unusual situation.
Maybe it’s just fun as Baba Muktananda told us a play of consciousness. Things are going on and everything is occurring in our consciousness. Everything we see, hear, feel, taste, touch, every emotion that we undergo.
Just an experience, just a play of what’s happening for us. Maybe we can even enjoy it.
Thanks for listening, have a wonderful day.
